Review: Blaze Pizza - Cheesy Bread

Blaze Pizza's Cheesy Bread features their scratch-made dough topped with whole-milk mozzarella, a sprinkle of oregano, and drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. It comes with classic red sauce (marinara) for dipping.

I picked up an order for $4.95. I requested some pesto and the spicy red sauce for dipping in addition to the included red sauce.

The Cheesy Bread seems to take their regular pizza dough and fold it upon itself, which is to say that it's roughly the same size as half of their regular pizza but is twice as thick (i.e. it's a half portion of their High Rise crust).

The cheese was melted so that it had a nice, stretchy pull to it. Flavor-wise, there's mostly a mild oregano flavor to go with the creamy cheese. It's definitely meant for dipping and both the red sauces and pesto added nice flavors to complement it. The spicy red sauce has a nice kick to it and a fresh pepper flavor. You do have to stir the pesto a bit, thoug, to get more of that parmesan-garlic-basil flavor; otherwise, you'll likely just be wicking up the olive oil top layer.

The crust offered a nice crispy surface with a moist, light crumb (interior) and a slight chew to it.

For about 5 bucks, Blaze Pizza's Cheesy Bread makes a nice accounting for itself. It's the same pricing (or cheaper) as other major pizza chains and is a step up, quality-wise, in the cheese and bread department. I especially liked crispiness of the crust.
