Review: Taco Bell - Crispy Potato Soft Taco

Taco Bell Crispy Potato Soft Taco
Taco Bell's Crispy Potato Soft Taco is a value menu item and features their seasoned potato bites, shredded cheese, lettuce, and a Pepper Jack sauce making it, ostensibly, one of the few vegetarian options on Taco Bell's menu. The price on this one is the same as a Crunchy Taco: 89 cents.

Basically, the Crispy Potato Soft Taco is Taco Bell's regular Soft Taco but with battered and deep-fried potatoes and Pepper Jack sauce replacing seasoned beef. The potatoes are a lot like KFC's Potato Wedges but smaller. It'd be nice if they were actually crispy but it looks like the ones I got had been sitting too long in the warmer.

Overall, the potatoes just don't deliver as much flavor as the meat options. It mostly tasted like I was eating cheese, lettuce, and Pepper Jack sauce.

Honestly, I think it'd be more interesting if they paired it with a salsa (it's available "fresco" style, so maybe I should have tried that) or if Taco Bell used a cumin-flavored potato salad as the filling.

  1. If I get a few of these... I have to put Fire sauce on them. They are a bit too plain otherwise. With sauce though, pretty tasty.

Potato salad tacos? Hm... You're a GENIUS.
