The Asia Trip: KFC Taiwan - Latte

Yes, while in Taiwan, I didn't go to Starbucks for coffee but I did pick up a latte at KFC Taiwan for 54 NT ($1.70).  That's right just like McDonald's, KFC in Taiwan sells premium coffee beverages dispensed out of a superautomatic espresso machine.

A superautomatic is basically a machine that grinds up coffee beans, tamps the grinds, and presses water through them at high pressure in espresso fashion.  The ones in KFC Taiwan like the ones in McDonald's in the states also dispenses steamed milk.  I don't know how much the machine in Taiwan cost but the ones at McDonald's cost about $20,000.
How was it?  Not bad.  Definitely comparable to McDonald's and Starbucks.  There was good coffee flavor coupled with frothy steamed milk.  The milk was a little over-frothed though, you can see the big bubbles so unlike the nice microfoam (small bubbles) I got at Blenz in Japan.  But that's what happens when a superautomatic foams milk.  Still, all-in-all, pretty decent.
