Review: Wendy's Original Chocolate Frosty

Wendy's Original Chocolate Frosty
Wendy's Original Chocolate Frosty used to be just Wendy's Frosty, but expansion efforts towards more Frosty offerings lead to Vanilla as another Frosty flavor and a base for other Frosty desserts. While McDonald's is pushing $1 Sweet Tea, and Burger King is pushing $1 Icees, Wendy's is pushing 99-cent 12-ounce Frosties this summer. Unfortunately, my local Wendy's is not participating in said promotion and my "small" 12-ounce Frosty came out to $1.29. I cried a little while paying that extra 30 cents.

Wendy's original version of a shake (I say original version because they now have Frosty shakes as well which takes the Vanilla Frosty as a base and adds flavored syrup, whipped cream, and a cherry on top) is a cocoa-flavored frozen blend of milk, sugar, and cream (and the usual litany of additives). I was first introduced to them via Kid's Meal because Wendy's gives a 6-ounce "junior" sized cup to go with your Jr. sandwich, side, drink, and toy which is pretty sweet.

I don't eat a lot of Frosties these days, but when I do, it's pretty much like a thick, soft, frozen cocoa that you have to eat with a spoon because a straw isn't going to work unless you're a human vacuum. I enjoy it, but when it comes to non-coffee ice cream drinks, I prefer to enjoy them in small quantities. Still, it's a very nice cold treat on a hot summer day.
