Review: Panda Express - Garlic Lover's Chicken Breast

Panda Express's Garlic Lover's Chicken Breast is a new entree on their menu featuring slices of chicken breast wok-tossed with broccoli, baby corn, red bell peppers, a savory black bean sauce and a lot of garlic.

I picked up a 2-entree plate including the chicken breast for $5.99.

Lots of garlic? Check. Garlic Lover's Chicken Breast is the most garlicky fast food dish I've ever eaten so far. If you really love garlic, you probably want to try it. Even the veggies are imparted with a strong garlic flavor. You do get hints of the black bean sauce here and there but garlic is definitely the star.

I like the blend of veggies as well; broccoli and red bell peppers are pretty standard but I don't often get to eat baby corn and it provides a nice bit of variety and crunchy texture.
Your mileage may vary, but my chicken was a little dry but flavorful and they gave me a good amount.

The entree did not go so great with chow mein though. I'd recommend a plainer starch such as steamed rice, or mixed veggies if you're watching your carb intake.

Overall, I liked Panda Express's Garlic Lover's Chicken Breast quite a bit. Mostly because I really like me some garlic.

  2. why do they not serve any panda dishes?  i've always found panda to be incredibly tender, sometimes i'll even just deep fry an entire one

  3. They were handing out free samples, I watched a dozen or so people try it in a row. Seemed to be a unanimous "meh". Not bad by any means, but certainly can't compete some of their other entrees for valuable plate space.

  5. Couldn´t agree more. Deep fried Panda stuffed with Mayonnaise and topped with cream cheese frosting is a hell of a dish.

  6. Good point, who watches a dozen people eat samples? I can't remember the last time I cared to watch one person eat a sample.

  7. I really like panda too. It's a versatile meat, flavorful in many different applications. I hope they figure out where their real market niche is.
