Review: Corner Bakery Cafe - Blueberry Hand Pie with Lemon Glaze

Corner Bakery Cafe's Blueberry Hand Pie with Lemon Glaze features a Pop-Tart-like pastry with a blueberry filling and a lemon glaze on top.

I picked one up for $2.59.

These look to be similar to these packaged fruit-filled pies you can buy fairly cheaply from the supermarket.

You can ask them to warm it up in the oven but mine came at room temperature. The hoping for more of a flaky crust but it's a crumbly, fairly soft shortcrust (I suspect it's a bit crustier out of the oven).

The filling was pretty thick and tasted like sweet blueberry preserves. The lemon glaze provided a nice tart pop and contrast to the more understated blueberry filling.

Overall, Corner Bakery Cafe's Blueberry Hand Pie with Lemon Glaze offers a fresher, fancier take on the packaged fruit pies you find at the supermarket. I liked it fine but it pales in comparison to Popeye's Blueberry 'n Lemon Cream Cheese Pie, which offers more variety in taste and texture.
