Review: Lunchables - Pepperoni Pizza

Lunchables Pepperoni Pizza box is a build-your-own pizza set with three mini pizza crusts, a packet of pizza sauce, processed mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni.

A 4.3-oz box was 99 cents on sale.

With three pizza crust, I decided I would try the pizzas with three different preparations: uncooked, microwaved, and toasted.

The crusts are a bit like pita bread but denser and stiffer; there's not much flex or flavor to them.

The sauce is mostly sweet and tangy with a slight herb flavor. These are made for kids so we're talking ketchup-like sweetness.

The pepperoni is enough for at least 3 slices per pizza, which is enough to cover the entire surface of each crust with some overlap. Flavorwise, they were a bit light and without any sort of heat (which, again make sense, as these are geared toward kids).

The uncooked pizza turned out pretty decently. The cheese obviously wasn't melted and everything is cold, but the crust stands up well out of the box.

The microwaved pizza had melted cheese but the crust gets limp and a little gummy. I think I actually prefer the uncooked pizza over the microwave.

The best of the three was the toasted pizza. The crust crisped up for more of a pizza feel, while the pepperoni cooked a little and the cheese melted through.

Overall, Lunchables' Pepperoni Pizza was just okay for me but still decent. There's not a whole lot of flavor to it beyond the pizza sauce, but the crust turned out pretty nice toasted and was still pizza-ish when cold. I'd go for their cheese and crackers over this though.
