Review: The Coffee Bean - Salted Butterscotch Ice Blended

The Coffee Bean's Salted Butterscotch Ice Blended features coffee blended with ice and a salted butterscotch sauce.

I picked one up for $2 (for a 12-oz cup) during a promotion but it's regularly $4.09. Being that's it's been around 80 to 90 degrees here, I wasn't going to go for the hot version.

For the most part, the taste of the coffee doesn't quite come through. Instead, there's a sweet, buttery, just slightly caramelly flavor that reminded me of the Butterbeer Frappuccino. It really does taste like drinking icy, creamy butterscotch. Interestingly, the syrup was a slightly off-white rather than the yellow hue of butterscotch.

The salt comes in very light. I wouldn't say the saltiness was anymore than you might get with plain butterscotch.

Overall, I found The Coffee Bean's Salted Butterscotch highly enjoyable. They nailed the butterscotch flavor. They need to add more salt to it to meet the expectation of the name as it's really just a Butterscotch Ice Blended, which is A-OK by me.
