Review: Pizza Hut - Twisted Crust Pizza

Pizza Hut's Twisted Crust Pizza features braided or twisted breadsticks embedded in the edge of the crust.

I bought a large Twisted Crust Pizza with pepperoni for $11.99. Marinara and cheddar cheese sauce were included for dipping. I went with a dusting of "Hut Favorite" crust seasoning as it appeared to be the default.

The Twisted Crust is basically a regular Pizza Hut pizza with twice the end crust.

The embedded breadstick pieces are pretty easy to remove and leave behind about the same amount of crust as a regular Pizza Hut pizza, albeit with less browning.

Tastewise, the breadsticks seem to be made with the same dough as Pizza Hut's regular pizzas as well. There's the same light sweetness to them as well as a slightly crispy surface, and just a slight chew.

The Hut Favorite seasoning mostly contributed a parmesan flavor with a light hint of garlic and herby notes. I wish it were just a tad bit more buttery.

Both the marinara and the cheddar cheese sauce were cold when they were given to me. I was surprised that they weren't warm at all.

The marinara is the same stuff you find on Pizza Hut's pizza and, when combined with the crust, is a little sweeter than I prefer my pizza, although it's not bad by any means.

The cheese sauce reminds me of the processed cheese in Handisnacks and I'm almost certain that I would have liked it better warm. It would have been better with a note of jalapeno or garlic to it.

Between the two sauces, I actually liked the marinara a little better but enjoyed the twisted breadsticks best unsauced.

Overall, Pizza Hut's Twisted Crust Pizza was fairly enjoyable but didn't offer much in the "new" department other than the cheese sauce, which was just okay for me. It's really nice if you like Pizza Hut's end crust since you get about double the regular amount.
