McDonald's Testing Buttermilk Crispy Tenders in Charlotte, NC

McDonald's takes another crack at chicken strips with a test run of new Buttermilk Crispy Tenders at 138 restaurants in the Charlotte, NC area.

As with their recent Chicken McNugget changes, the tenders are made with no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives, as well as no MSG.

The tenders are dipped in buttermilk and battered with "authentic seasonings" before deep-frying. For dipping, they're testing new "Signature" sauce, which McDonald's describes as "slightly tangy and sweet."

While details weren't given, the new Buttermilk Crispy Tenders can be ordered in different portion sizes throughout the test (I'd guess three and five and, possibly, ten-count orders).

The fast food chain chose a Southern city for its competitive fried chicken market.

Update 3/20/17 - It looks like they're pairing the new tenders with a biscuit and honey. The nutritional information is now also available:
