Review: Burger King - Crispy Chicken Sandwich

Burger King's Crispy Chicken Sandwich features a new breaded chicken filet along with lettuce, tomato, and mayo on a soft potato bun.

I bought one for $4.69.

The bun must have been stale as it wasn't all that soft but was rather dense and dry. Instead of cradling the sandwich fillings, it was more prone to forcing them out of the sandwich (it was nice and shiny though). As a result, I wasted a good amount of time trying to put chopped lettuce back into the sandwich (and then giving up and just putting the stray lettuce in my mouth instead). Leafed lettuce might have been the way to go here (even shredded lettuce might have worked better). On the plus side, both the lettuce and tomato were fairly fresh and the mayo wasn't too heavy.

The chicken was decently thick (it seems be thicker but not as wide as the previous version: the Tendercrisp), meaty, and somewhat juicy. The breading had a lightly seasoned flavor and a moderate crunch.

Overall, Burger King's Crispy Chicken Sandwich was nice enough, except for the somewhat stale bun. I'm not sure it's a marked improvement over the Tendercrisp though and it doesn't do much to distinguish itself from other chicken sandwiches out there.
