Review: Starbucks - Cookie Butter Bar

Starbucks' Cookie Butter Bar features a crust of crumbled speculoos cookies, topped with a layer of crunchy cookie butter (also made with speculoos), vanilla icing, and crushed speculoos cookies.

It cost me $2.75 for one.

The dessert was very sweet. It's like icing on cookie butter with the crunchy speculoo crust giving you something to hold on to and keep your fingers clean. Where the icing on, say, a cupcake might also be sweet, the cake itself is usually less sweet to balance it out. That's not the case here as both layers seem heavy on the sugar.

The icing added added a fairly creamy note to go with the sweetness. The flavor of the frosting and the cookie butter components teeter around half and half even as there's more cookie butter than frosting. The crushed speculoos on top don't contribute much save for a visual effect.

Overall, Starbucks' Cookie Butter Bar is a bit too sweet for my liking but if your drink of choice at Starbucks is something like the Caramel Macchiato or Frappuccino, the level might be just right for you.
