Review: Taco Bell - Crispy Chicken Quesadilla

Taco Bell's Crispy Chicken Quesadilla features crispy-fried triangles of seasoned white meat chicken, three-cheese blend, and creamy jalapeno sauce folded and grill-pressed inside a warm flour tortilla.

You can get one for $3.49 or as part of a $5 Box combo along with a Crunchy Taco, a Doritos Locos Taco, and a medium drink (I went with the latter since just a Doritos Locos Taco already costs over $1.50 in my area).

As with some Taco Bell LTOs (limited-time offers), there's not much in the way of newness. You might have even custom-ordered one of these the last time Naked Chicken Chips were around as it's a regular Taco Bell quesadilla with about four Naked Chicken Chips thrown inside.

While the Naked Chicken Chips added a nice seasoned flavor and meatiness to the quesadilla, they didn't add any crunch (although I suppose you might have better results if you're dining in and/or manage to get lucky with a fresh-fried batch). Given the thinness of the chips compared to a nugget or a tender, they tend to dry out faster and the ones I got were somewhat on the dry and hard side.

Beyond the chicken, the quesadilla turned out pretty nice. The cheese was thoroughly melted with a stretchy pull to it and the creamy jalapeno sauce delivered a savory note as well as the occasional spicy bite.

At the end of the day, the Taco Bell Crispy Chicken Quesadilla was a tad lackluster in the crispy department but the underlying quesadilla turned out pretty well.
