Review: Wendy's - Chicken Tenders

Wendy's Chicken Tenders feature seasoned, lightly-breaded, and deep-fried strips of chicken breast.

I picked up an order of three along with small fries and a drink for $5.

Compared to McDonald's new Buttermilk Crispy Tenders, Wendy's version sport a lighter, thinner shell and juicier, more tender chicken.

The flavor of breading felt very reminiscent of Wendy's Chicken Nuggets but with more of a scattered crispiness.

The chicken inside was very tender and mostly juicy. According to the chain, the tenders are made for ""fans who crave chicken tenders that taste like chicken, not just battered breading." With the relatively thin breading and meaty chicken, that held true for me.

The new S'Awesome Sauce is described as "combining tangy, sweet, and smoky into one savory flavor." It looks like McDonald's new Signature Sauce but tasted like a combination of that and Chick-fil-A sauce but without the craveability of either. It's not as sweet nor smoky as Chick-fil-A sauce and didn't have the same savory depth of McDonald's Signature Sauce. Instead, it was anchored by more of a mustard and tomato-y note.

Overall, Wendy's Chicken Tenders turned out pretty well. I liked the quality of the chicken but would have preferred just a bit more crunch. The S'Awesome Sauce was okay but I'd rather go with their barbecue or ranch sauce for dipping.
