Review: Chick-fil-A - Mac & Cheese

Chick-fil-A's Mac & Cheese features macaroni pasta with a blend of cheese that includes cheddar, parmesan, and Romano that's baked in each restaurant daily.

I paid $3.55 for a medium-sized order.

They actually ran out of Mac & Cheese when I ordered, but had another batch coming out in 15 minutes, so I waited and got a piping hot and fresh bowl.

The macaroni was tender to the point of almost melting in your mouth. If you prefer your pasta more al dente, this is nowhere close; but macaroni does tend to be on the soft side for mac & cheese (especially the baked variety).

The cheese was a combination of smooth sauce and baked, shredded cheese. The baked cheese was nicely browned and mixed in throughout the bowl, adding some textural variety in the form of gooey chew. The cheese sauce was rich and creamy with a prominent cheddar flavor, and didn't separate or pool at the bottom of the bowl. It stuck to the pasta quite well.

The overall result was an exemplary rendition of a classic mac & cheese. It was better than some restaurant mac & cheeses that I've had and is hearty enough to make for a meal.
