Chipotle Tests New Queso Blanco

Chipotle tests new Queso Blanco for a limited time in 52 restaurants in Dallas, Detroit, and San Diego.

The chain describes the new queso as having "a perfectly smooth texture and bold cheese flavor with a mild spicy heat and a smoky finish." The texture is notable as I found the chain's current queso a bit grainy.

Queso Blanco features aged Monterey Jack cheese, white Cheddar, and Serrano, Poblano, and Chipotle peppers. In comparison, the chain's current queso is made with "a blend of cheese, jalapenos, tomatillos, and spices."

According to the Chipotle, Queso Blanco is being tested via their new "stage-gate process," which lets the company "test, learn, listen to customer feedback, and iterate extensively before deciding on a national launch." So far, the test has gone well insofar as initial reviews (via tweets of course) and sales after the first week are concerned.

Chipotle launched their current Queso nationally back in 2017.
