Review: Wendy's - Bacon Jalapeno Cheese Fries

Wendy's Bacon Jalapeno Cheese Fries feature natural-cut, sea salt fries topped with jalapenos, smoky jalapeno sauce, shredded cheddar, warm cheddar cheese sauce, and applewood-smoked bacon.

I got an order for $2.99 (which is 50 cents more than their Baconator Fries)

The fries were somewhat crispy and stood up well flavor-wise against the toppings.

The cheese was smooth and creamy, while the bacon was thin and crispy with a light smokiness. Unfortunately, the bacon was mostly drowned out by the sour notes of both the jalapenos and smoky jalapeno sauce.

The jalapenos offered a medium heat, a tangy bite, and a nice, watery crunch. Alone, it probably would have worked well with the bacon and cheese combo but joined by the (not-so) smoky jalapeno sauce, there was way too much sourness going about. While I'm sure there's some mayo in the sauce, it ended up feeling like a run-of-the mill hot sauce (but thicker).

When it comes down to it, Wendy's Bacon Jalapeno Fries provided a good amount of spicy heat to go with a classic bacon, cheese, and potato combination but went astray with a double dose of sour toppings that was notably more sour than its burger counterpart.
