Subway to Test Plant-Based Beyond Meatball Marinara Sub Starting September 2019

Subway partners with Beyond Meat to come up with plant-based Beyond Meatballs exclusively for the sandwich chain. Beyond Meatballs will be testing as part of the Beyond Meatball Marinara sub starting September 2019 at 685 participating Subway locations in Canada and the US.

As with the regular Meatball Marinara Sub, the Beyond Meatball version comes slathered with marinara sauce and topped with provolone cheese and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese. It's good for 24 grams of protein per six-inch sub, which is about the same for the chain's regular Meatball Marinara (23g).

The new sandwich and plant-based meatballs are part of a partnership to "explore new plant-based protein offerings." Subway has also recently collaborated with Halo Top to test hand-spun milkshakes and with King's Hawaiian to test fresh-baked King's Hawaiian bread.
