Review: Jack in the Box - Snoop's Munchie Meal

Jack in the Box Snoop's Munchie Meal box with drink and air freshener.

The Jack in the Box Snoop's Munchie Meal includes a new Spicy Sauced & Loaded Chicken Sando, a new Baked Brownie, a taco, medium Seasoned Curly Fries, a medium (32-fl-oz) fountain drink, and a Purple Haze air freshener.

I paid $14 for the combo.

In my area, the individual items in the combo come out to $7.99 for the Spicy Sauced & Loaded Chicken Sando, $2.69 for the Baked Brownie, $.50 for a taco (they're only available at two for 99 cents when you order online but cost more for just one if you order at the counter; you can't buy just one online apparently), $3.59 for medium Seasoned Curly Fries, and $2.79 for a medium drink for a total of $17.56 not including the air freshener. That amounts to roughly a 20% discount over regular menu prices.

As most of the items are regular menu items I've reviewed before (you can find a review for the taco here and Seasoned Curly Fries here), I'll just focus on the Spicy Sauced & Loaded Chicken Sando and Baked Brownie with a short mention of the Purple Haze air freshener.

The Spicy Sauced & Loaded Chicken Sando consists of two white-meat spicy chicken strips, bacon crumbles, French fries, white cheese sauce, Good Good sauce, and ranch on a Brioche bun.

Despite being covered in sauce, the two chicken strips stayed nice and crispy with a fairly thick, bloom-type breading. The chicken inside was moist but a bit thin. In taste, the strips were quite spicy with an enjoyable, savory flavor.

The sauces provided a good counter to the spiciness of the chicken with a rich creaminess, mild cheesiness, and a mix of sweet, tangy, and savory from the Good Good sauce. The herbs of the ranch seem to have gotten lost in the shuffle.

The bacon crumbles added a smoky dimension but was soft in texture, while the fries were large superfluous as they weren't crunchy and the fried potato flavor didn't come through.

The bun had split at the seam but still managed to hold the sandwiches' fillings together when I picked it up. It was soft and pliant but also quite sturdy.

Except for the fries, I liked the Spicy Sauced & Loaded Chicken Sando. It's very saucy and messy but balanced most of its flavors well, while still managing a lot of crunch from the chicken strips. I wouldn't pay $8 for it though.

The Baked Brownie offered a dark chocolate brownie with semi-sweet chocolate chips and was even better than the chicken sandwich. It sported a flaky, crispy crust, while maintaining a moist and chewy interior. I got a corner piece so it was extra crunchy.

Flavor-wise, it was rich and chocolaty without being cloyingly sweet. The chocolate chips were a bit sparse but added a bit of crunch and extra chocolate notes when I came across them. I saved a section of the brownie wrapped in its paper pouch until the next day and it was still just as good.

Jack in the Box Purple Haze Air Freshener

Finally, the Purple Haze air freshener smelled a bit fruity, like grapes and/or berries, and maybe a bit floral. It reminded me a bit of public bathroom soap.
