Review: Jack in the Box - Spicy Sriracha Burger

Jack in the Box's Spicy Sriracha Burger features a beef patty, hickory-smoked bacon, sliced jalapenos, a slice of Swiss-style cheese, shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and creamy Sriracha sauce on toasted sourdough bread.

I picked one up for $4.59.

In a large part, this tastes much like the very good Sourdough Jack, which isn't a surprise since they share much in common (i.e. the bread, tomatoes, cheese, bacon, beef patty, and the same price). What you get extra with the Spicy Sriracha Burger is the lettuce, Sriracha sauce, and sliced jalapenos (what you get less is mayo and ketchup, which are replaced by the creamy Sriracha sauce).

The creamy Sriracha is the same as is found in the Grande Sausage Burrito. It doesn't really taste like Sriracha though. Instead, it sports a plain tanginess with some heat to it. Combined with the pickled sliced jalapenos, it doubles up on the tangy spiciness. The combination is enough to burn but doesn't linger for very long.

Other than that, you get the the familiar tasty mix of smoky but not crispy bacon, lightly seasoned beef, melted cheese, and buttery (but not really sour) toasted sourdough. There's not too much lettuce but it adds just a bit of fresh crispness.

Overall, Jack in the Box's Spicy Sriracha Burger is a pretty enjoyable spicy version of the popular Sourdough Jack, but doesn't really taste like Sriracha beyond the heat.
