Review: Burger King - Tacos

Burger King Taco
Burger King's Tacos seem to be an "at-participating-locations-only" item and doesn't appear on the Burger King website.  At two for $1.49, they're 50 cents more than Jack in the Box's Taco for basically the same item.

Like Jack in the Box, Burger King seems to deep-fry a taco shell filled with seasoned beef and then tops it off with lettuce, a slice of American cheese, and taco sauce.

The shell is usually very oily from being deep fried and the beef is mushy and almost paste-like, but for some reason, I still like eating it. I think the beef might be from a Burger King hamburger patty but, I'm really not sure. As far as fast food quality goes, this has got to be the bottom rung but, I guess I just like the taste?

The Sister-in-law thinks theses are totally disgusting and the yellow lettuce doesn't help the case any. The Sister, on the other hand, likes these. I'm thinking this is just one of those polarizing items where you either hate it or love it.

  2. I prefer Jack in the Box's tacos to Burger King's. The first (and last) time I had them, they were not very good.

  3. Yump! i will never forget that time I walked into a Burger King and ordered two tacos only to be stared at as if I had two heads and told haughtily, "this is BURGER king"...

  4. If you search the internets a lot of people were talking about these in '01, '03... and I see a '07... so, what now? Did they come back, never leave... or just randomly appear here and there?

I wonder what the story is. Jack N the Box has had them consistently I hear.

But on the first pic.... is that grease that is making them... translucent or are they thin? So gross if that is grease!

  5. I think they're just available in selected areas or restaurants, but it's probably be up to the individual franchises.

Tacos are definitely a chainwide item at Jack in the Box.

Haha, that is the oil making them translucent!

  10. I LOVED them when they used to have them here in Michigan. In fact I loved them enough to head over to the BK website and request they come back

  11. i think what really sets apart burger king's tacos from any other fastfood chain tacos is the shell.  the filling is pretty much identical to jack in the box except the shell at burger king is light, crispy, and almost flaky whereas jack in the box has shells that could be described as more crunchy and hard.  i personally like burger king better but i just like the fact that jack in the box gives you more taco sauce on the side.  burger king doesn't serve the taco sauce on the side and instead offered it to me in a small, plastic rammican instead :\

  12. Eating some as we speak, so as I'm eating them I'm thinking, what kind of meat is this. I did a quick Google search and this link came up. Honestly speaking, I believe the meat is boiled hamburger patty, but silly enough, I like em!

  13. In the filling, the first ingredient is actually water (yes, there's more water in it then beef)

  16. These are very similar to the JITB taco. But where can I find them in the Tri-state NY area?
