Frozen Friday: Marie Callender's - Slow Roasted Beef

Marie Callender's Slow Roasted Beef frozen dinner also comes with garlic mashed potatoes, gravy, carrots, and green beans.

It retails for $4.49 at my local supermarket but I picked this up on sale for $2.50.

The biggest surprise for me here is the roast beef which is actually sliced beef with a nice grain. It's exactly tender but has some moistness and the gravy helps. The gravy is more of an aus jus consistency, but that works well with roast beef. Of course, if you were to actually slow roast some beef, it would be much more tender I think.
The garlic mashed potatoes were whipped with an even, creamy consistency and just the right tinge of garlic flavor. Some might like a thicker, heartier consistency, but I remember back in the day when microwaved mashed potatoes were kinda grainy and very uneven.

The weak point of the meal was the green beans. You can tell by the color that they've been overcooked; they were mushy and lacked flavor. The carrots were mushy as well but a little better off in the flavor department.

Still, a decent take on roast beef. I'd get it again just for variety and when I'm in a beef and potatoes mood.
