Beer Can Chicken Returns to Popeyes

Beer Can Chicken is back at Popeyes and gets a slightly longer name: Beer Can Rip'n Chick'n.

The returning menu item is available for a limited time and features chicken breast partially cut into strips and marinated in garlic, rosemary, cayenne, and lemon zest before being battered and fried.

Traditionally, beer can chicken is a way of cooking in which a partially-filled beer can is used to stand a chicken up while roasting, which makes it a bit of an odd name to use for a fried chicken menu item. Popeye's rendition is meant to capture the seasoning of the dish.

The chain is offering the dish along with a side, buttermilk biscuit, and Creamy Cayenne dipping sauce for $3.99.

Popeyes Beer Can Rip’n Chick’n can be found at participating restaurants through August 28, 2016, while supplies last.

Beer Can Chicken was first introduced at Popeyes back in 2014 (you can find my review of it here).
