Review: Chipotle - Queso

Chipotle's Queso features a blend of cheese, jalapenos, tomatillos, and spices.

I paid $5.35 for a large serving and a large bag of tortilla chips (A smaller order is $3.55). It's enough to share between two to four people, depending on how big your appetite is.

The cheese came out warm and cooled pretty quickly. There's grainy consistency to it; like someone had made a roux but didn't bother to stir it.

The taste fared much better and offered up a deep cheddar note. It was just very slightly spicy and didn't exhibit much in the way of jalapeno flavor.

I haven't had chips from Chipotle since they changed them back in March of this year. The reformulated tortilla chips felt more like multigrain chips than traditional tortilla chips. Although the taste and texture changed, they included the same hint of lime and sprinkling of salt as before.

When it comes down to it, Chipotle's Queso was flavorful and tasty enough but the grainy texture was off-putting and the tortilla chips were below average.
