Review: Denny's - Turkey & Dressing Dinner

Denny's Turkey & Dressing Dinner.

Denny's Turkey & Dressing Dinner features carved turkey breast, stuffing, turkey gravy, and cranberry sauce. It comes served with two sides of your choice and dinner bread.

I paid $16.99 for the dinner and went with veggies and mashed potatoes for my sides since that was what was shown on the menu picture.

The turkey seemed to be all white-meat but it was juicy and tender with a touch of seasoning that still managed to permeate the meat throughout.

The stuffing underneath the turkey was mostly moist but slightly dry at some parts. It wasn't particularly herby but had a light seasoning.

The gravy was salty and savory with a smooth consistency and nice meatiness (turkey-ness?). Like the stuffing, it wasn't particularly herby.

The mashed potatoes were creamy and thick with a fairly smooth consistency. They seemed to be made with red potatoes.

The veggies turned out really nice. They seemed like they had been lightly steamed and then finished on the grill as they were cooked through but still retained some crisp texture. There was some nice charring for some extra texture and flavor. Additionally, the veggies were lightly seasoned.

The cranberry sauce seemed to be the same jelly stuff you get out of a can. It was mostly sweet and moderately tangy but didn't taste much like cranberries. You could probably make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with it and not notice the cranberry as it generally lacks the bitter and sour notes. I did get a bit of that astringent quality though.

Dinner bread was garlic bread with a light sprinkling of dried parsley. It looked like it was made with thin French bread and was soft and chewy with a light, buttery garlic flavor. The buttered surface had a bit of toasted crunch though.

Overall, Denny's Turkey & Dressing Dinner made for some pretty good eating. Except for the garlic bread (I usually think of dinner rolls), it encapsulates all that comes to mind when I think of a traditional turkey dinner and it was mostly done well.
