Review: Trader Joe's - Middle Eastern Style Kebabs

A package of Trader Joe's Middle Eastern Style Kebabs.

Trader Joe's Middle Eastern Style Kebabs feature seasoned ground beef patty kebabs.

A 12-oz bag costs $6.99.

These appear to be Trader Joe's take on a Turkish kofte kebab or a Persian koobideh. Here, it features beef, onion, and parsley. It's also lightly spiced. Mostly, I just tasted beef and onion with light hints of parsley and spices here and there.

The kebabs are fully-cooked and don't take very long to heat up in the microwave or air-fryer (I tried them both). There's breadcrumbs mixed into the kebabs, which give them a bit of a meatloaf-like springiness. Between the air-fryer and the microwave, I prefer the air-fryer as it the kebabs developed a crisp crust on the surface, which isn't something that happens in the microwave without some sort of crisping paper.

Where some frozen, cooked meats sometimes sport grill marks on them for little beyond visual effect, the charring on these kebabs actually imparted a bit of a smokiness that was very nice.

Inside the meat was tender and juicy with a fine grind to it.

I ended up eating these in a pita with hummus, tomato, and onion and it made for some enjoyable eating. They're also great eaten alone or with some rice or salad. The kebabs don't have an intense flavor to them so you probably go pretty well with whatever you have sitting in the fridge.

Overall, Trader Joe's Middle Eastern Style Kebabs are a favorite of mine that I usually keep stocked in the freezer. They're very convenient when I feel like a bit of Mediterranean or Middle Eastern flavors and turn out really well in terms of both taste and texture.
