Review: Wendy's - BBQ Pulled Pork Cheeseburger

Wendy's BBQ Pulled Pork Cheeseburger comes with pulled pork, broccoli slaw, a quarter-pound hamburger patty, a slice of cheddar cheese, and a choice of BBQ sauce (Sweet, Smoky, or Spicy) on a toasted brioche bun.

It was $4.99 for the burger. I went with the Smoky sauce.

I already tried the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich, so I figured I'd try the cheeseburger version to note any differences in case any of you guys were interested and didn't want to just try them yourself.

There's less pulled pork, but still a decent amount. It was tender, flavorful, and blended well with the smoky BBQ sauce. It took a back seat to the hamburger patty though.

The thick, beef patty was fairly juicy and quite beefy in size and taste. This was definitely a cheeseburger first and BBQ sandwich second. The cheese was actual cheddar as opposed to the processed stuff and sported a mild but noticeable flavor.

The bun was nice and soft and pretty sturdy.

Overall, Wendy's BBQ Pulled Pork Cheeseburger is more of a compromise product for when you want barbecue flavor in a burger rather than a full-on barbecue sandwich. It's good and well put together, but I'd prefer a western-BBQ-style burger or pulled pork sandwich over it, since the pork gets a little lost in the shuffle here, which seems like a waste.
