While I have serious doubts that they pour cake batter into the deep-fryer and fried until a golden brown (it just doesn't have the same melty feel of freshness), it is more likely that they take a frozen pre-made funnel cake and fry it up when you order it which, quite frankly, is a reasonable substitute.
For the most part, you get that familiar funnel cake taste, but it's a little bit chewier than a freshly fried batter would be. Still, it's nice, crisp, hot, and not too sweet. I'd give it a try, if you're fiending for some funnel cake and the fair's not in town.

I've tried the JITB Funnel Cake a couple of times and found them to be as good as the fair variety. I love that they are small for portion control reasons---but they are addicting so beware!
ReplyDeleteSweet! I knew Jack in the Box was cool (I mean, they have the funniest ads ever), but funnel cake?!?! That I can get without fair admission and for only $1?!?! I am in love. Sucks to not live in a state with Jack in the Box anymore, though!
