Review: Nutkao Snack

Nutkao is an Italian brand that makes a spread similar to Nutella. The Nutkao Snack is aimed at "young people" according to their website and features little biscuit sticks with a cocoa-based spread in individual cups.

I picked up a 5.5-ounce package of three cups for $2.50 at Big Lots.

If you've tried Meiji's Yan Yan before, these are a similar concept. The biscuits are a little different though; they're more like crunchy breadsticks whereas Yan Yan biscuits are more like light cookies.

The Nutkao Snack biscuits don't have much flavor to them. They're pretty much there to bring the chocolate-flavored spread to you mouth.

The consistency of the spread is fairly oily and liquid. I found it best to stir it a bit for the best result. The flavor is fairly chocolaty and a little too sweet for me, but not overly so. The sticks don't do much to blunt the sweetness and I had quite a bit of spread leftover after I finished off the sticks.

Overall, the cocoa spread for Nutkao Snack is pretty good, but the biscuits, while delivering a nice crunch, are almost flavorless. For the price, Yan Yan is a little bit cheaper and its biscuit sticks are worlds better.
