McDonald's Tries Ground Chicken Burgers

McDonald's is trying new Chicken Burgers featuring a quarter-pound ground chicken patty made of a blend of breast and thigh meat.

The burgers are only being offered in the Tampa Bay area in Florida and, according to the Tampa Bay Times, come in two configurations: Classic and Signature. The Classic includes red onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and ranch sauce, while the Signature consists of grilled onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and a "signature" sauce. Both come served on a potato bun.

It'll be interesting to see how the Chicken Burgers do as the fast food norm has been for chicken breast filet sandwiches. As far as ground chicken patties go, you'll usually only find them battered and/or breaded at a major fast food chain.

You'd have to think that a ground chicken patty would cost less than a similarly-sized chicken filet though. The burgers are being offered for $3.79 (the last time I got a grilled chicken sandwich from McDonald's, it cost me $4.39).
