Review: Hostess - Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes

Hostess Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes feature frosted pumpkin spice cupcakes with the brand's signature creme filling.

I bought a 12.7-oz box for $2.99.

These are the first Hostess Cupcakes I've gotten that were rounded on top rather than flat. I'm not sure if it's by design or the batch just turned out that way by happenstance. Regardless, it didn't negatively impact the taste or texture.

The cake was decently moist and crumbly. In taste, it was heavily spiced and fairly light on pumpkin. The creme filling provided a smooth whipped cream-like texture and taste.

The icing was hardened and sweet. It was like the crust that develops on icing when left out except it was that same texture all the way through. The candy flowers added a bit of crunch.

Overall, Hostess Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes were pretty good but a bit lacking in the pumpkin department. It's especially nice if you prefer the flavor of pumpkin pie spices over actual pumpkin.
