Review: Trader Joe's - Egg Frittata

Trader Joe's Egg Frittata box.

Trader Joe's Egg Frittata features a base of egg and Swiss cheese with some cauliflower and fried onions mixed in.

A 4.94-oz box includes two frittatas and costs $3.49.

Each frittata was a small disc that was just big enough to fit into a biscuit or English muffin but I just ate the alone. I heated them up in the microwave. It took a bit more than 2 minutes and they came out looking pretty nicely. Interestingly, the frittatas came in a paper white tray that the instructions warned not to heat in either the oven or microwave.

Given the microwave, the frittatas didn't have any crispness to them but there was a bit of a skin for some slight chew.

Inside, they were pretty fluffy with a bit of texture from soft bits of onion and cauliflower. There was enough cheese for flavor but not enough for any stretch or pull.

Flavor-wise, the frittatas tasted mostly like eggs with a creamy Swiss cheese flavor accented with onions and chives. The cauliflower didn't really come across for me. They're salty enough to go with some bread but not so much that you can't eat them as is.

Overall, Trader Joe's Egg Frittata were pretty enjoyable, cheesy, onion-y eggs. They were quick to prepare but I might go the air fryer route next time for just a bit of crispness.
