Review: Burger King - Loaded Tater Tots

Burger King's new, limited-time Loaded Tater Tots follows on the heels of their Cheesy Tots and features a breaded and fried tater tot filled with potatoes, onions, bacon, and cheese.

I picked up an order of 8 tots for $1.99 at my local Burger King.

Opening up the box these came in, I was a little surprised to find that they were a bit more tubular than your standard tots. Along with the slightly crispy breading, the shape reminded me a fair bit of jalapeno poppers.

Inside there was cheesy potato bits to be found and small chunks of smoky bacon that was less bacon-y and a bit more ham-like. There wasn't any crispness or crunch from the bacon. I didn't really notice the onions.

The cheese, potato, bacon combo is a potentially potent combo that turns out decently here. Eating them, I couldn't help but feel like they were missing that little something to put them over. A little bit of jalapeno would have worked really well here or even some bell peppers.

Overall, Burger King's Loaded Tater Tots were pretty decent, but was missing that extra bit of flavor to make them stand out. I like them better than the previously offered Cheesy Tots though.

  1. These remind me of the late, lamented (for me at least) Loaded Potato Bites at Arby's. If these are anything like those, BK has a winner on their hands. I'll have to go try them soon.

  2. I was a huge fan of the Arby's Loaded Potato Bites, and in my opinion these are exactly the same. I love them!
