News: El Pollo Loco Nixing Steak

Going, going, soon to be gone.
According to the OC Register, El Pollo Loco is getting rid of steak (carne asada) from their menu by spring of this year. So if you want steak from El Pollo Loco, you'll want to get it while you can.

The move to add steak to the menu always puzzled me; when you call yourself "The Crazy Chicken," people kinda expect chicken and not steak. It would be as if KFC started serving country-fried beef steak. Or, if Burger King served pizza. It just doesn't vibe with the message the name sends out.

Also, having tried the steak on several occasions, it was a pretty mundane offering anyway especially when contrasted with El Pollo Loco's chicken.

If you're an El Pollo Loco steak fan, not all is lost, the door has been left open for steak to possibly return as a limited-time offer so keep your eyes peeled.

  1. I hope chick-fil-a Never experiments with adding burgers to the menu, as high quality as it may be. Not only would it be hypocracy, but it would also mean that they would have to remove the cows from the advertisements.

  2. McDonalds had pizza for years and it sold pretty good.
