Frozen Friday: Ben & Jerry's - That's My Jam Core Ice Cream

Ben & Jerry's That's My Jam Core ice cream features chocolate and raspberry ice creams with fudge chips side-by-side with a core of raspberry jam in the middle.

I bought a pint for $2.50 on sale.

I started out eating the jam. It was super sweet, tangy, and intense. So you know it's jam, there's specks of raspberry seeds in it.

The thing is with the powerful hit of raspberry in the center, the raspberry ice cream tastes like vanilla in comparison. It's like during the day when you can't see the moon because the sun is so bright. Even on its own, the raspberry ice cream is a lot of cream with a light raspberry flavor.

For those who don't like smooth ice cream, the fudge chips provided dark chocolaty hard chunks to break it up. They can be found in both halves of ice cream.

The chocolate ice cream featured the familiar rich bittersweet notes and paired rather well with the raspberry jam. With the jam being as sweet as it is, I wondered if a darker, less sweet chocolate ice cream would have worked even better.

Overall, Ben & Jerry's That's My Jam Core ice cream offered a pretty enjoyable chocolate raspberry pairing, but could have gone a step further in accentuating the contrast of the flavors.
