Nestle to Remove Artificial Flavors from Frozen Pizzas and Snacks

Nestle has pledged to remove artificial flavors and cut sodium from six of their frozen pizza and snack brands in the U.S. by the end of 2015.

The six Nestle frozen brands targeted by the changes are DiGiorno, Tombstone, California Pizza Kitchen, Jack's, Hot Pockets, and Lean Pockets, which encompass over 250 products in total.

In addition to removing artificial flavors from all products within the six target brands, Nestle will also reduce the sodium levels by 10% (compared to 2013 levels).

The move follows a recent trend in which consumers look for an improved nutritional profile and less artificial additives in their foods. Fast food chains Panera, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut have all recently adopted similar pledges to remove artificial ingredients from their food.
