Review: Starbucks - Strawberry Megpie

Starbucks' Strawberry Megpie features an all-natural tart with a flaky crust, strawberry jam filling, and sweet frosting.

I picked one up for $3.95 and asked them to warm it for me. The price comes out to more than a whole box of Pop-Tarts and is a dollar more than a lot of Starbucks pastries.

Compared to a Pop-Tart, the crust here was thicker, softer (at least when warmed), and crumbly. It felt similar to shortbread in both taste and texture. It's not super rich but there was a light buttery quality to it.

The filling was moderately sweet and fruity with a relatively smooth texture. There wasn't all that much of it to go around though. Especially since a lot of the pastry's edge is crust only.

The frosting wasn't too heavy. If it was strawberry flavored at all, it was only lightly so.

While Starbucks' Strawberry Megpie could use a little less crust and a bit more filling, it still made for some pleasant eating.
