Review: Taco Bell - Buffalo Chicken Nacho Fries

Taco Bell's Buffalo Chicken Nacho Fries feature shredded chicken, shredded cheddar cheese, warm nacho cheese sauce, pico de gallo, reduced fat sour cream, and new Buffalo sauce over a bed of seasoned Nacho Fries.

I paid $3.49 for an order.

The fries were lightly crisped on this occasion and held up relatively well under the toppings.

The new Buffalo sauce was pretty nice with the requisite heat and vinegar tang along with a creamy savory element from the mayo base. It was moderately spicy but less so than their last spicy topped fries, which was Reaper Ranch. The spiciness and tanginess of the sauce were balanced out a fair bit by the cheese sauce (and to a much lesser extent, the shredded cheese) and the sour cream.

The pico de gallo actually added a noticeable watery crunch and a fresh lime tartness that provided a nice contrast to all the creamier components. Usually for their nachos, Taco Bell just puts some mostly tasteless tomatoes or a small scoop of pico de gallo for a large plate of nachos that, understandably, ends up struggling against the other ingredients.

The shredded chicken was a bit sparse but was moist and tender, while meshing well with the Buffalo sauce for that Buffalo chicken effect.

Overall, Taco Bell's Buffalo Chicken Nacho Fries turned out to be pretty enjoyable. There was a nice Buffalo chicken quality to it but also a balanced mix of variety and flavors from the other parts of the dish.
