Review: Jack in the Box - Spicy Tiny Tacos

Jack in the Box's Spicy Tiny Tacos feature mini red taco shells filled with spicy taco meat.

An order of 15 Tiny Tacos cost me $3.50 (interestingly, the non-spicy version costs $3.49).

My batch seemed to have come out straight from the fryer as the bite-sized taco shell was nice and crispy all around (usually the combination of grease and moisture from the filling soaks into the center of the shell and softens it a bit). While the shell is red, it's not spicy or anything and tasted the same as the regular taco shell, which is to say it tasted like a fried corn tortilla.

Inside was the same heavily-spiced meat paste/slurry (there's neither a shredded nor crumbled texture to it) that you find in Jack in the Box's regular tacos as well as Tiny Tacos, only with added heat. The spicy heat started off fairly mild but settled in for a decent amount of heat around taco #3. It didn't really get spicier after that and didn't linger for very long.

Overall, I found myself liking Jack in the Box's Spicy Tiny Tacos quite a bit for their flavor, crunch, and moderate heat. While the texture of the meat filling has always been not so great, it's not a dealbreaker for me. They can feel a little plain though with just meat and shell.
