It costs about $2 for a 20-fl-oz bottle but I received this courtesy of Mountain Dew. They already revealed what the mystery flavor is this year but I won't give it away here in case you're still guessing.
As with previous years, the soda sported a cloudy white color that didn't give any hints as to its flavor.
This year is the first time that the mystery flavor is a branded flavor.
Opening the bottle yield the aroma of fruity candy or fruit punch soda. Taking a sip delivered a citrus flavor up front followed by a sweet cherry flavor that reminded me a little of cough syrup. Besides the citrus note, there's no additional tang. There's a bit of an aftertaste that lingered on the tongue.
Taken altogether, Mtn Dew Voodew 2023 made for a nice cherry candy like flavor that I find similar to cherry hard candy or a cherry slushie. It fits the Halloween season well but I'm not sure I'd want to drink it year round.
