Review: 7-Eleven - Oddball Orange Slurpee

7-Eleven's Fanta Oddball Orange Slurpee is a limited-time flavor on rotation this summer. It's a kumquat-flavored Slurpee slush drink.

I picked up a 20-ounce cup for 49 cents under the Memorial Day weekend promo, but they're normally around $1.49.

The kumquat is a citrus fruit similar to an orange but known for its sweet rind and sometimes very sour center. The flavor isn't sour here so I'm guessing they were going for the more palatable sweet rind flavor.

I'd describe the flavor as "orange plus;" it tastes like orange soda, but with added depth. There's an extra end note to the flavor. It's pretty nice.

Depending on how the machine is running, a Slurpee can end up being watery mess or a mass of finely formed powdery flavored snow. The machine was running pretty well when I got this; my Slurpee was like drinking tasty, orange-ish, freshly-fallen snow.

Overall, 7-Eleven's Fanta Oddball Orange Slurpee is very much as the name suggests and a very refreshing treat on a hot summer's day.
