News: McDonald's Testing Horchata Frappe Plus Buy One, Get One Deal

McDonald's is testing the new Horchata Frappe here in Southern California. The new drink is made with a new horchata-flavored syrup, coffee base, milk, and ice, topped with whipped cream and caramel sauce.

McDonald's describes the Horchata Frappe as "made with vanilla, a hint of cinnamon and coffee."

Horchata is a Mexican sweet rice drink typically made with rice, water, milk, cinnamon, and sugar (although there's a fair amount of variation).

Along with the new drink, McDonald's is also offering a buy one, get one free deal on any McCafe beverage from 2 pm to 5 pm for a limited time at participating locations in Southern California. They're calling it "McCafe Social Hour." The deal mirrors Starbucks recent Frappuccino Happy Hour but also includes smoothies, coffee, and shakes in addition to blended-ice drinks.

The markets for the test includes participating locations in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura, and San Diego counties.
