Frozen Friday: Chili's - Chicken Bacon Ranch

Chili's Chicken Bacon Ranch frozen meal features strips of grilled white meat chicken with rice, broccoli, and bacon in a creamy ranch sauce.

A 10-oz box was $2 on sale.

To start, the rice was undercooked and hard, which was weird because it's pre-cooked and, if anything, tends to turn out mushy rather than hard in microwavable meals.

The chicken was also overly firm and a little rubbery. The flavor was okay but the texture made it hard to enjoy.

The bacon came in tiny, squishy bits that did little to distinguish itself in texture or flavor.

The only thing that turned out well was the broccoli, which was tender enough to easily bite into while still retaining some crisp texture.

The ranch sauce was thick and creamy but wasn't working for me. I think of ranch as more of a condiment to be used lightly but here it was pervasive and covered everything with that familiar tangy herbiness.

Overall, Chili's Chicken Bacon Ranch was a miss for me. Except for the broccoli, everything else was sub-par for the segment and the overall flavor just didn't work.
