Review: Lunchables - Chicken Popper Kabobbles

Oscar Mayer's Lunchables Chicken Popper Kabobbles with Smoothie features breaded white meat chicken poppers along with Kraft processed American cheese, pretzel sticks, Tree Top Banana Strawberry Smoothie, and Mini Chips Ahoy cookies.

A 3.5-oz plus 4.54-fl oz box is normally $3 to $4 but I got this one for $1 on closeout.

I pretty much got this to show the Chicken Popper Kabobbles concept to you guys. Basically, as a bit of entertainment for the young eater, the chicken poppers and mini squares of American cheese are meant to be skewered by the pretzel sticks to make a mini shish-kabob (or Kabobble, I suppose).

The chicken poppers taste more or less like decent enough chicken nuggets, but are cold with a soft breading shell devoid of any crispiness. The softness of the breading wasn't surprising but if they're not going to be crunchy even a little bit, why not just go with grilled chicken bites?

Combined with the cheese and the pretzel sticks, it still feels like three separate things you normally wouldn't eat all together. I prefer to just eat them separately. I guess you can also use the pretzel sticks as a makeshift utensil to stab and pick up the poppers and cheese. I wish the cheese was anything but American, but I guess kids like American cheese? (And it's cheap.) Mozzarella might have been easier to skewer.

The Mini Chips Ahoy cookies were crispy and tasty as usual. I don't recommend trying to add them to your kabob since they'd just crumble or break.

The smoothie had a pretty nice and balanced strawberry-banana flavor without being too sweet. It sported a slightly thick, smooth, and even consistency. It's basically just a mix of juice and fruit puree without added sugar.

Overall, Lunchables Chicken Popper Kabobbles tastes nice enough as a variety of poppable snacks, but it's a bit of a pain to make into kabobs. The cheese, in particular, tended to fall apart.
