Starbucks Offers New Freshly-Roasted Coffee Subscription

Aiming at the upscale home coffee market, Starbucks now offers an online "fresh delivery" subscription service where you can order "super-premium, small-lot" coffees delivered within days of roasting (as opposed to the weeks and possibly months of a typical bag of Starbucks coffee at their stores or at retail).

The coffee selection is roasted exclusively at their new Seattle Reserve Roastery in Seattle, WA and can only be purchased onsite or through the Starbucks Reserve subscription service. Depending on where you live in the U.S., the coffee is meant to arrive within three to five days of being roasted.

Keep in mind that you won't be able to choose what coffee you'll be getting; they basically pick what to roast for the service each month (but you can return the coffee if you don't like it).

A 1-month ongoing subscription costs $24.00 a month and nets you an 8.8-oz bag of whole bean coffee each month. There are also 3-, 6-, and 12-month subscriptions that come out to the same each month. It's pricey even compared to the rest of their Reserve line where the current selections ranges from $12.50 to $17.95 per 8.8-oz bag (although the price for the subscription serve includes shipping and apparently, fancy packaging).

You can find out more about the programs at: Starbucks.com/Roastery-Subscription.
