Review: Sandwich Bros. - Pizza Burgers

Sandwich Bros. Pizza Burgers feature an Italian-seasoned beef and pork patty with provolone cheese inside half a pita pocket.

A 9-oz box was $3.49 on sale.

These really didn't taste like pizza to me. For one, there isn't any tomato/pizza sauce. Not in the pita and not on the side. You can add your own but I don't typically stock pizza sauce and it takes away from the convenience factor.

The meat patty was tender and tasted liked a lightly-seasoned herby sausage. There's a bit of ketchup listed in the ingredients but I couldn't really taste it. Combined with the comparatively thick slice of provolone, it felt a little like eating breakfast; all I needed was some eggs.

The pita pocket turned out rather chewy as bread often is out of the microwave. You might want to microwave the sandwich for 30 seconds and then give it a little toasting for better results.

At the end of the day, Sandwich Bros. Pizza Burger still makes for a quick and easy snack (or light meal) and tastes nice enough but is neither pizza-like nor burger-like. I'd go with "sausage sandwich."
