Review: McDonald's - Donut Sticks

McDonald's Donut Sticks are fried sticks of dough sprinkled with a combination of cinnamon and sugar.

An order of six is normally $1.59 at my local McDonald's but I had a deal from their mobile app where it cost me $2 for a six-piece order of Donut Sticks and a large brewed coffee.

These turned out rather nice. My order was piping hot and the sticks were very similar to fresh-fried yeast donuts but with an airy, lighter texture and less resilience (it doesn't spring back much if at all if you squish it). There's just a slight bit of chew to it and the crust was just a touch crispy. They remind me of making donuts at home with a tube of biscuit dough as a kid.

The cinnamon-sugar gave the donut flavor and a gritty crunch but quite a bit of it flecked off as I ate (more so than a traditional cinnamon-sugar donut).

The Donut Sticks didn't suffer too much as they cooled although I imagine they might not be that great the next day.

Overall, McDonald's Donut Sticks were excellent in my book. They're fresh, tasty, and don't sit too heavy in your stomach. Fresh, warm donuts are not easy to come by and McDonald's has made it very convenient to get your fix for however long the Donut Sticks are around for.
