McDonald's Sells Hot Cross Buns in Australia for Easter

While Lenten season typically means Filet-O-Fish Fridays at McDonald's here in the US, over in Australia and neighboring New Zealand, the chain offers Hot Cross Buns seasonally this time of year.

Part of the McDonald's Australia McCafe menu, the Easter-associated spiced buns come in Fruit and Choc Chip varieties.

The Fruit Hot Cross Bun features currants and sultanas.

The Choc Chip Hot Cross Bun is only offered in Australia and features a chocolate hot cross bun embedded with milk chocolate chips.

Both versions can be toasted with butter upon request.

Hot cross buns are traditionally eaten on Good Friday in a number of countries and mark the end of Lent. That being said, nowadays they've offered all year round in some countries such as England.
