Review: Jack in the Box - Chocolate Croissant Bites

Jack in the Box's Chocolate Croissant Bites feature fried, flaky croissant dough filled with "hot and melty" Hershey's chocolate.

A 3-piece order cost me $1.99.

While there's a nice, lightly-fried, and flaky crust to the Chocolate Croissant Bites, the laminated layers are wasted here as they're all compressed into one mass. The layers generally lacked separation and didn't offer much of a croissant texture inside. Instead, I got a soft and chewy layer or two within. Each piece was a slightly elongated tube so they're good for roughly two bites unless you just cram it in.

The chocolate filling was warm and nicely melted with a fair chocolaty flavor to it and a moderate sweetness. It's not particularly rich but wasn't too drippy.

Overall, Jack in the Box's Chocolate Croissant Bites turned out good but not great. I liked the thin, fried, flaky crust but the crumb left something to be desired and the chocolate turned out decently.
