Review: Burger King - Angry Whopper Jr.

Burger King's Angry Whopper Jr. is a limited-time smaller version of the Angry Whopper. It features a beef patty, thick-cut, hardwood-smoked bacon, Habanero cheese, jalapeno slices, spicy fried onion petals, tomatoes, lettuce, and a spicy "angry" sauce.

I bought one from my local BK for $2.69.

I've never tried the Angry Whopper, but given the Whopper's general wide flatness, the Jr. version seems the way to go for more toppings. My Angry Whopper Jr. seemed crammed with various stuffs, most of them spicy.

There are a full four ingredients to deliver the heat in the Angry Whopper Jr., and they were fairly plentiful against the lone junior beef patty. The jalapeno slices give a hot sour bite while the "angry" sauce seemed like a sweet chili sauce. The cheese offered equal hits of creamy and spicy and resembled a Jalapeno Jack. The least spicy of the bunch were the spicy fried onion petals. The onion give you a nice sweetness, but the batter was only slightly crisp and slightly spicy. Combined, I wasn't reaching for water, but there's a nice lasting burn to the lot of them.

The bacon was crisp and thick, but needs a bit more in the flavor department. It was middling at best.

The tomatoes and lettuce were relatively fresh though I got some of the yellow and white parts of the lettuce.

Overall, I enjoyed the Whopper Jr. quite a bit. It's not the best value (granted my local BK had it a good 50 cents higher than the suggested retail), but there are a lot of good flavors going on with it and they're tied together by a substantial amount of heat.

  1. I enjoy a Whopper from time to time..the Wisconsin and California whoppers disappointed me, but this Angry Whopper was surprisingly very good. The sauce is a bit sweet but nonetheless tasty. And I also got the Jr. version as it seems to be a better ratio of meat, bun, condiments.

  2. Love it! I usually go to Mc.Donald for their salads. I typically go to Burger King for their large pop and union rings but after tasting their Angry Whooper I am in love.
